Hi folks, my 635d is needing a service. Mileage is 21K & age is 3.5 years old

It's due:

 Oil change,

Microfilter

Brake fluid

The price I have been given by my local dealer is £421.

How does this sound?

For a 635D that might be an ok price! But to me it sounds a little exborbitantShocked. If you live anywhere near Northampton just pm me! as I can advise on a couple of BMW specialists. For instance is your price based on quote(s) by Dealer or an Indie. It really pays to get a few quotes in though.

I paid 376.76 with 10% discount from a main dealer. 335d A M Sport C.
service - standard scope, engine oil service, environmental waste disposal charge, M57N oil filter and 7 litres of N/STK Edge P - 204.37
Microfilter service - 40.65, intake silencer filter - 52.43 and service fuel filter - 79.31. Price include labour but not Vat.
I am sure there are many indie dealers who can do the job cheaper, however if you vehicle is still under BMW warranty or indeed extended warranty you may wish to check that the indie dealership service still leaves the warranty intact.
Clearly it depends in the modern car how you drive it as the service indicator is based on a computer assessment linked to the individual driving style. I did 20,000 miles which represented 14 months since the last service, therefore including vat me service costs are running at 32.29 per month or 0.0226 per mile. If you use the main dealer and are a club member you should be at least 10% discount, some I believe even 15%.

Thank you according to my friend who is the Service manager at a BMW dealership the service costs are compatible for the 635d, otherwise I should not go into such detail for comparative costs. That is unless he has it totally wrong which is, of course, possible. I therefore defer to more expert knowledge.

In fact according to the information I just read on a web site the 635d has the same 3.0 litre twin turbo diesel engine as the 335d?

a) BMW Franchise  £420.00 ... Engine oil change, brake fluid and air filter incl vat
b) Indie                 £350.00            ditto
