E21 problem.

A friend of mine owns a 1982 318i.He changed the battery the other day,unfortunately he may of briefly touched the leads on the wrong terminals of the battery.He then connected it correctly but the whole car is dead,hes checked all the fuses and they all seem OK.Any ideas.
