hi all,im new to the forum so HELLO Smile,I'm just wandering if there is a dealer or similar that does front fenders(painted would be good)anywhere ive googled and ebay seems to be main place but I'm taking it they are pattern parts and would be a diabolical fit(past experiences with these parts)but I'm sure there has got to be a tried and tested place where people go as this seems to be a common issue with them, any info or a point in the right direction would be massively appreciated Big smiledamien

Hi Damien & welcome.
I was in the same dilemma as yourself a while back with regards to replacement of front wings on my E46. I was looking at the cheaper option of pattern wings from eBay but know that pattern panels normally need a bit of fettling & alteration to make them fit properly.
You will struggle to find wings already painted unless they have come off a breakers car & if lucky to find the right colour, the other problem you will have is how long they will last before they rust out on the arches again as this is a common known problem on the E46's.

I went for brand new genuine wings from main dealer, got them professionally painted & fitted. If you decide to go this route, whilst the front wheel arch liners are out ,cut a few mms off the edge to stop them rubbing against the inside of the wing & coat the backs of the wings in the lip area, so it prevents the paint from being rubbed by the liners when the car is driven & getting body roll from cornering.

Hope this advice is of some help.
Regards
Rich

I'll have a look through my cars history of receipts & will let you know what I paid for the genuine wings. Once they start to go it doesn't take long for them to go bad & it isn't worth repairing them.
Most pattern panels are insurance approved & I did find a company on eBay when I was looking, that does just BMW parts & they were advertising theirs for about £30 each. I did ring them to chat about any problems & they said they hadn't had any but I wasn't taking the chance.

Hi Damien
Sorry for the late update in finding out the price for you on the genuine wings, I paid £140 each. Don't know if you have progressed any further to replacing yours but at least it gives you something to think about.

Regards
Rich
