Good Afternoon fellow vehicle enthusiasts, great news!
Following the huge success of the inaugural Bournemouth Wheels Festival in 2014, with estimated visitor numbers of over 500,000. I am delighted to announce that applications for car clubs to participate in 2015 are now open!
The organising team are very grateful for your support and the feedback from last year and as a result we are planning a few changes that we hope will improve the experience for everyone. This includes a bus service from Boscombe pier into the centre of town, reducing the pinch points along the promenade, and trying to reduce the number of empty spaces in the display. We also have some new attractions this year which will bring visitors down towards the Boscombe end of the promenade. The biggest change for 2015 is the date!
The 2015 Bournemouth Wheels Festival will take place on 29th , 30th & 31st May 2015
Due to these improvements we are changing the way we are organising the Car Club Display and are offering several different packages as follows;
Premium Club Space- These spaces will be located right in the heart of the action about half way along the promenade, they will be available to Car Clubs who can guarantee to bring a number of interesting vehicles and put on a good display. Space will be available for club support infrastructure such as an exhibition trailer, marquee or branded support vehicle. (Motorhomes or Caravans are not permitted I’m afraid!) All participants will need to arrive together between 8am and 10am and depart together at the end of the event when crowd numbers are deemed to have reduced to a safe level. This could be as late as 7pm. For safety reasons due to the popularity of the Festival, vehicle movement along the promenade in 2015 will be strictly limited during the event. Priority for these spaces will be given to clubs who wish to participate on more than one day. All correspondence will go through the club coordinator and all passes and arrival information will sent to the coordinator for distribution before the event.
Standard Club Space- These spaces will be located to the east of the large visitor attraction arenas towards the Boscombe end of the promenade, they will be available to Car Clubs who can again guarantee to bring a number of interesting vehicles and put on a good display. Space will be available for club support infrastructure such as an exhibition trailer, marquee or branded support vehicle. (Motorhomes or Caravans are not permitted I’m afraid!) All participants will need to arrive together between 8am and 10am however vehicles will be able to leave this area when crowd numbers are deemed to have reduced to a safe level. It is anticipated that this will be earlier in the afternoon. (possibly 4pm). For safety reasons due to the popularity of the Festival, vehicle movement along the promenade in 2015 will be strictly limited during the event and no vehicle will be allowed to move without authority from event staff. Priority for these spaces will be given to clubs who wish to participate on more than one day, however this is not a requirement. All correspondence will go through the club coordinator and all passes and arrival information will sent to the coordinator for distribution before the event.
Bournemouth Wheels Festival Club Space- There will be a limited number of display spaces for small clubs or individuals with particularly interesting vehicles. All applications are subject to acceptance by the Festival Committee however priority will be given to previous participants and owners of older classic vehicles and outstanding vehicles of particular interest. Space will be allocated on a first come first served basis and will be located at the Boscombe pier end of the promenade. Full applications should be made for each individual vehicle and passes and arrival information will sent out via email before the event.
We have also been offered some display space on the slopes near Bournemouth Pier, these areas are not on the sea front but are close to the paddock for the demonstration run and the town centre. Clubs wishing to be considered for these spaces should contact me via e-mail in the first instance.
Individual classic car parking may be available on the day on a pay and display basis in other locations, details to follow.
If you or your club wish to apply for display space for 2015 please send the following details to james@rel-event.com
Name Name of club Type of space required Number and type of vehicles Day/s you wish to attend Description of display Email address Phone number Any additional information you wish to include
We will also be asking successful clubs to send us photos, articles and club information for possible inclusion in the event programme.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future, remember that space is limited and we are looking at putting together the best display possible so get your applications in as soon as possible.
In the meantime if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
I very much look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards
James Hodgson
