Hi all, I have recently changed the wheels and tyres on my e61 550i from 18" MV2's to 19" Type 166 (M5 Alloys) and have changed my run flats to non run flats (best decision ever). The tyres are continental sport contact 6, 275/30/19 - rear and continental sport contact 6, 245/35/19 - front. The sticker in the car only has info on the front tyres but at 41 seems too high (and feels too harsh) and I think it was more for the run flats the car originally came with. I have done a search on various forums and concluded that 2.4 front and 2.6 rear was the way to go. What do you guys think? is that ok or too low for a big heavy car? Car drives fine but I don't want to wear brand new tyres out too quickly!! thanks Arif

probably too late now, but here goes
stick to the recommended tyre pressures the minute you drop them make the ride less harsh you're increasing the chances of damaging your wheels. while the MV3's on e9X cars were claimed to have a manufacturing fault, i wonder how many were allowed to drop in pressure and this caused the wheels to crack i had a great conversation with a very respected tuner who saw this happen with some sets of Hartge wheels. He dismissed complaints from customers stating his own 19" wheels were fine because he ran them at the correct pressure |
