Hello from sunny Scotland!
I took delivery of my 240i in October to replace my 120d and I absolutely love it! What a piece of machinery it is and it fits in very nicely with my E46 M3! two totally different beasts! |

Hello Issy and Raffy,
See, Raffy, we are not alone! Thanks for posting Issy. I'm not surprised you are happy with your new motor! They are superb in almost every way, IMHO. Are there any little idiosyn...... any little things that you don't like or that irritate you? And the things that delight you? Hope that Raffy will join in with our chat! Perhaps we will encourage a few more 2 Series bods to join in. In our own little way, we can answer the "Forum is Dying" glass-half-empty brigade! Best wishes Peter |

Hey Peter
I can fault nothing about the car apart from the tyre pressure system! To cut a long story short I recently purchased a set of OEM wheels from a 2 year old 135 to use as winter wheels and put a set of winter tyres on. All good for about 300 miles then the idrive decided to through up an error as it was no longer reading the tyre pressure. Into BMW for 3 hours only to be told that the sensors in the older wheels are not compatible with the new idrive and it would cost £450 to replace them! They suggested that I put the original wheels back on to make sure the system resets and prove their diagnoses. So did that and all was back to normal so I am driving the car with the idrive continually telling me it can't read the tyre pressure! Most annoying! Next thing to try is change the wheels 1 at a time to see if one of the sensors had failed! Apart from that the car is great. Edited by issy - 09 Jan 2017 at 6:08pm |

Hey guys sorry not replied soon been pretty busy with a new job .
Anyway I bough a M235i back in March 16 . Had a Civic type R Champ white edition before it and there is no comparison . Didn't really think could afford a new car and certainly not my 2 series . Was looking and the new Type R but got an offer I could not refuse . I'm in the RAF hence the name and Knight BMW Staffordshire offer military Discount . So after some number crunching its was a no brainier . I went for Estoril Blue , sport auto , sun protection , folding mirrors , parking sensors and the amazing M performance exhaust with rear splitter. It's a beautiful thing and the sound is just naughty . Most annoying thing is that I did not know about the M240i otherwise I would of waited for a bit and ordered that instead . Also is it me or do you think the seats do have much depth and lack of lumbar support . It's certainly the best car I have owned so far , though can be scary in the wet and ice . Where is everyone based ? I'm in Crewe Cheshire . |

Give it a few months and there will be a M250i closely followed by the M260i in BMW's marketing Departments attempt at world brand dilution.

Hello "Two-ers" (or would that be better as
"2ers" - yes, "2ers" is better, IMHO.) Issy, that's such a pain with your tyre sensors issue. I didn't know that older
ones weren't compatible with new ones either. It’s surprising that they aren't,
and I am sure, very frustrating! - Fuel consumption is a bit disappointing. Average mpg is given as 37.2 – at best, I would only get around 30-32. Bit of a change from the 42-45mpg I was getting previously in a 6 cylinder turbo diesel. I don’t inhabit the red line area and generally don’t thrash the car.
When ordering, I felt the rear diffuser and exhaust tips lacked a little “presence”, so I ordered the M Performance matt black rear diffuser and the matching M Performance chromed stainless exhaust tips. They suit the Mineral Grey paintwork. I got my local dealer to fit them as part of the car’s preparation for handover.
Those relatively minor points aside, I have to say that it’s the best car to drive AND use on a practical daily basis that I’ve ever owned. It just feels so hooked-up together, with a fizz that is very enjoyable! I had driven and considered a F32 335i Xdrive M Sport and an E92 M3 and later, a M2. Whilst all excellent cars, the M235i just felt the most sorted, compelling and enjoyable - and £10k+ less than the M2 and less than half a second slower 0-60. So here I am, still very happy with it.
Here’s a photo, taken today. It has 18” BMW 385 winter wheels/tyres bought in November for a very good price from the dealer. From bitter experience, I am a great believer in winter tyres – not in the main for snow/ice (but welcome!), but more for the sense of security they give in very wet conditions. (Having experienced an E60 M5 spinning completely out of control in front of me in a torrential downpour on the M6 Toll, I wouldn’t be without winter tyres!)
Finally, a little query: has anyone experienced condensation problems in the rear light units? I have this quite severely at the moment. Dealer tells me it’s a known problem and re-designed units will be out for warranty fitting soon.
Best wishes

That's not condensation,it 's a leak, common they should of done it straight away on warranty as they did mine. Next you will lose your rear lights, for that call out BMWemergency service and they will re route the earth until you can take it to main dealer to fit new light.

Thanks for that, Nigel.
I understand that there is ingress of water through the connectors (which shows as condensation at the top of the clusters, rather than a pool at the bottom). There is a re-designed cluster due soon. I take your point re light failure. I agreed to wait if the delay was only going to be a matter of a month or so, as I felt it wasn't worth getting the units replaced now under warranty if they hand the same problem... and then have to get them changed again, once the new revised units became available. Does seem to have taken a long time to produce a revised design - this issue was live on various forums 2+ years back. But will check up with my service guys to press the point. Thanks again. Peter |

Hello, so I'm looking to sell my GT86 and I've been looking at a few cars. An s3 or rs3 took my fancy but my local dealer took me out in a 240i and I fell in love.
I'm not a fan of luxury or autos. But this this is next level. I'm assuming you all will vouch for it and say get one? |

Hello Reece,
What a lovely decision-making challenge to have! You mentioned the “dealer took me out in a 240i” – did you drive it? If you haven’t, then do so – pronto! I think you’ll be impressed. Good luck with choosing – let us know how you get on (deal ‘em hard – I got £6.5k off mine) and post some photos once it’s all sorted. Cheers! Peter |

Thanks PSJT!
I've always been one for Japanese imports kind of cars. My mate just got a 420D brand new and the tech inside is just amazing for what it can do and for just £40k He took us out in his 235i with sports exhaust and all the m performance kit on it, and well let's just say he really sold me the car 80 in a 30 is one way to sell a car to someone who loves speed. I then drove the 240i and I blinked and was at 100 on a back road, went past a new ford RS and he didn't even bother trying to keep up. It was such a great experience and to realisticly get a used one for less than £30k that has every my mates has is just mins blowing! |

Regarding good deals on a used M240i, with Cooper Reading BMW, there is 5 month old manual one with only 1,418 miles for just £27,771... which I would have every intention of getting down to sub-£27k. Not much in the way of options, but when you consider list price, including its sunroof option, is close to £37k, the £27k for that 5-monther is pretty good. (Blimey - £10k drop in 5 months! I know the first owner will not have paid the OTR price, but even so...)
Anyway, good luck with that... but take it easy with the right pedal, especially in 30 zones, where there are usually lots of hazards, pedestrians, kids etc. Let us know how you get on. Cheers Peter |

Hey all sorry its been a while since i last logged on , i have changed jobs and all been a bit crazy. Thanks too all that have responded so far on the 2 series section and im keen to keep this up. I am considering putting my name forward as the 2 series rep for the magazine just need to find some info out and we will see.
Car still going strong though have now have several things that annoy me. 1. I can get my driving position comfy 2. Had a few issues been on the garage a few times 3. Steering feels to light under harsh acceleration 4. The wheel are a pain in the ass to clean. Other than that love it still. Reece defo a vote for the auto box from me . |

Just bought my 2 series 240 last week, this club website is rarely visited even by the members of many years,I think most people congregate on specific forums relating to what model they have.

Imo the 2 Series (Coupe, not Zafira) is the best thing BMW make. The 6 cyl versions are pretty much a modern day E30.

Hi all
Probably the best BMW I have had to date, im lucky enough to have a manual M140i , an auto M235i and I have a M240i auto with a bag load of M performance goodies on order. I much prefer the auto over the manual as its just so easy to drive and imo very responsive. from a previous post I find the seats great , although tit took a little bit of adjustment over a week or so to get it "just right" happy motoring all

Bought my used M235i convertible as a replacement for my Honda S2000(bought new in 2007) as I needed a 4 seater convertible without losing too much performance. After weeks of searching found a 2015 auto model with just over 11000 miles on the clock. I was hooked after the test drive, so much controllable power and so much more comfortable than the S2000 with a much better exhaust sound. A lot more up to date gizmos as well. Not quite as chuckable as the S2000 on windy country roads though. I'm looking forward to the better weather to get a few top down miles done and to push it a bit more on dry roads.

Yes there are plenty of 2 Series owners out there. Bought my 2015 M235i auto convertible in 2017. Needed 4 seats so my Honda S2000 needed upgrading. Great to drive but a bit annoying that there is no temperature readout!

New owner here - just joined the BMWCC.
More modest performance than some, but very happy with recent purchase of 220D.
