 hardtop/hood water leaks
I have a 2001 E46 320ci which leaks both from hood and hardtop on R/H A pillar
Water leaks across front edge of A pillar (90 deg. to window)
If water is sprayed on area, leak is not immediate which seems to indicate it overflows into car. I have searched on web but have found lots of refererences to drain tubes at rear of car but no reference to A pillar drains.
I was surprised to see a photo in an E bay advert. which appears to show drain tubes which pass down A pillars.
Has anyone any experience with clearing these drains or do they exist?
Do you know exactly where they exit?
Have you changed the complete seal?
I know it goes round both door apertures and across top of windscreen and new from BMW costs about £400 trade.
My car presently has black silicone, which someone has put over where I imagine drain hole is in an attempt to stop leak which hasn't worked but before I try to peel it of and possibly wreck the seal in the process i hope someone can advise me.
Have considered buying the Ebay seal but don't know if it is any better than mine, but I don't want to spend £400 on a new seal unless I am certain that it would cure problem.
Have you fitted this seal and did it cure your leaks?
Would be very grateful for any suggestions.
This was a query I put on various forums a year ago, still looking for a solution, or can anyone suggest a soft top/ hardtop specialist in the Derby/East Midlands area who could sort this for me.
Luckily the car has been in garage over the winter but now needs sorting.
Can you help ?
Cheers
Steve
