I have recently put a secondhand motor into my Z4 and I have no drive from the transmission can someone tell me if it's possible To join the engine t o the tranmission and not have it aligned properly so it would cause no drive at the transmission
When removing the engine I did lose some transmission fluid but I don't think enough for it not to select any gears at all .

manual or auto?

if nothing was changed on the transmission side was the clutch correctly installed on the engine, having said that I can't see a way to misalign the gearbox and engine that would cause it to have no drive at all, no idea if it's auto but it should be even more straightforward as there's no clutch to get wrong....

You did put the clutch plate in didn't you Wink

Think about what you can do for the club, not what it can do for you...

You are not very specific - do you mean that you cannot engage a gear, or that you can put the car into gear, but when engaging the clutch the car does not move?
A Z3 is not just for Christmas - it's for life!

It'll be an auto, and chances are the standard mistake of trying to fit the engine with the torque converter fitted was made. These have two ears that must be engaged with the oil pump - if not, the force of tightening the bell housing bolts will break the oil pump lugs resulting in no drive. You must lower the converter into the box (stood on its tail) and spin it until it clunks down into place, then bolt the whole lot to the engine.
