When the X bug bites, it can seriously damage your bank account. LOL

Having bought the X5 a few years ago now, I have also recently purchased a "little" X3 3.0dSE.

A one owner car from new and just 90k with FBMWSH. Not perfect by any standard but a very useable vehicle. I like the sport switch - it takes off like a scalded cat. Approve

BTW the X5 is still doing well.

Fuel consumption comparison:

X5 15 - 22 mpg
X3 - 28 - 40mpg

Great engine - just have some issues like oil leaks - 3 common places -

Worth Check on radiator condition
Alternators may need keeping eye on charge
Air mass meters worth checking check for split boots

As long as has good oil and not overheat then seen many over 200k miles and going well

Some rare issues like cat on manifold cracking and oil pump can have issue with very high miles or been abused

Hope you are well and that helps - call me if helps further cheers Neil

Hi Neil

Fancy meeting you here

Yes it is an M54 engine. Any particular issues to watch with these?

Hi all

Wow - not a very well used section is this. The last X series post was last year.

Rather than talk to myself, I'll go elsewhere then for help and advise.

BTW I bought a 3.0i sport with LPG.
