Dear all,

An auction house in Yorkshire has been in touch with myself regarding a 1983 Alpina B9 which is coming up for auction in the next few weeks.   The car will be sold at no reserve.  These are rare finds now and this being a manual car it will be interesting to see how much it makes.   Be aware that the car will require a good deal of work for an MOT, it's last MOT failure report in February makes for grim reading but it does all appear to be straight on top, have a nice interior and the correct parts to put back to original condition.

The auction house details are below:

If you want any more details I have a number of images of the car and I am being sent some inspection details and underside pictures.

Thanks,
Mark

Yes MOT Failure 19 Feb 19, 106,778 miles Excessive structural corrosion nearly all body work. Braking issues. Sound like a total body rebuild. Ok if you have the time, money or expertise. Rare car. It is rotten upwards.

Further photos are available on our facebook page.

It will be sold at 1pm on Monday the 18th. People can bid in person at our premises in OSSETT, request a telephone bid or bid online on either of the platforms listed above. View is 9-12 on Saturday and from 9am on Monday

Gary Lott from Sytner has found some paperwork that ties the number on the ‘new’ plaque to the original garage paperwork. I’ll forward his email. He is looking for more information in the archives tomorrow.

The purchaser may wish to explore how many engine parts and other parts are currently still available. I have spoken to an owner of one of these models who has alleged he has had extreme difficulty finding like for like parts and had to substitute some. He is an Engineer and has done the research himself.

This might be the right vehicle for those with the knowledge and appetite. Are Sytner not buying it to restore?

Some news from Alpina GB

"Some good news. We have a record of the car and contrary to the advice to date, it does appear to have a 5 digit engine number which matches the plaque."

That is positive always good to know the car is a genuine and not a replica.

By the time the rusty bodywork has been replaced, it WILL be a replica!  The Alpina plaque and the engine number are probably the best parts . . .

Mike, I guess that debate is true for many restored vehicles.

It looks nice from the photos, inside & out but we know photos don’t always do cars justice. Reading the mot’s past history it’s a rotten apple.
