I am looking to buy a carcoon or similar storage "bubble" for my M Coupe can anyone offer any advise on the pros and cons of storing this way? Storage will be for the winter months only 7-8 months a year.

Go for the 'tent' type Dave rather than the original Carcoon type.
Try 'air Chamber' of Air Flow or Cair-o-port
Cost around £450 new but sometimes on eBay S/h for £350+
Tell it how it is the Northern way.

I have a Carcoon Veloce, it's very good.  The power supply for the fans doubles as a trickle charger too,  I place a small dehumidifier inside with a permanent drain to keep it relatively dry inside.

The only problem I've had is that the tyres tend to stick to the plastic base of the Carcoon, I put 4 pieces of old carpet under the wheels which stops it.  I haven't used tyre savers or taken the weight off the wheels, I just increase the pressure in the tyres for storage to minimise flat spots.

I have to confess I own a container rental, sales and self storage business. We have many customers with cars, motorbikes and ski jets and other items. I have put a car inside an insulated container, no problems. However at home, I do put the car on coconut mats under the tyres, they have a bit of give in them and no flat spotting, made sure car is fully dry before putting in garage, covered and have trickle charger. I cant put a carcoon on my drive or a container as we have deeds and covenants concerning the location and grounds in which we live. Let us know how you get on, in spring.

I have two Carcoons on my drive - BMW E30 and Jensen Interceptor.

Both have worked well and keep the battery charged up. I also keep a few dehumidifiers from Halfords inside the cars just in case, but because of the air flow, the cars have been fine, in fact dried the Interceptor out which revealed some paint issues - is that good or bad?

I pump the tyres up so prevent flat spots over the winter but other than that just be warned, in high winds they do blow about and so make sure the connection to the fans is secure as if it comes out you have a lot of material flapping on your car.

I also put spare wheels etc around the base so that if it is windy the material doesn't touch the car, but if you are in a sheltered spot then this doesn't matter.

Carcoon arrived just before Christmas and I am very pleased with the quality and ease of setting up only time will tell if its worth the expense long term.
