Hi all,

Quick question on my E38 728i.

I've just had it serviced (Insp II), and noticed the plate in the photos attached, is hanging loose.

Any advice on what it is? Is it okay to drive, or will I lose it at Motorway speeds?

Thanks in advance!

hi
It looks like an aluminium protection shield to avoid damage to the underneath. I would not leave it hanging down because that could come off & fly into the path of another vehicle causing an accident. If it has just had a service II surely the garage should have noticed it & informed you, unless they haven’t refitted it properly.

Hope this helps

Rich

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the reply - I'll try to get some more pics, I should have have been clearer earlier, but I guess I was just trying to work out if it's safe to drive, slowly, to my mechanic.

Thanks again, I'll share these pics with my mechanic, and hopefully get it sorted asap! 😊

hi
Whether it’s safe to drive to your mechanic or not depends, if it’s a rear plate then looking at the photo it will dig into the road.
