My thermo time switch has failed.  I understand that this controls the fuel mixture at start up from cold.  Anybody have a spare or know where I might find one?

Thanks to all

It is the same as the corresponding unit on an early Golf GTi, as is most of the K-Jetronic injection system.  If German & Swedish cannot provide a new one, try any breaker for an 8-valve  Mk 1 GTi, Mk2 GTi up to about 1985, or a 16-valve Golf GTi and Corrado engine up to 1990

The metering unit venturi is tailored to each engine, but apart from that, an old K-Jet system would yield a lot of spare parts.

The K-Jet system on the E21 series is the very worst such intallation I have ever seen, all the components being hidden around the engine bay, making replacent very difficult.  Compare this to the VW installation on a Golf GTi or Corrado, and weep!

After running these systems for about 300,000 miles, I found that the only components which gave trouble were the pulsataion damper on the fuel pump (not fitted after about 1984) which rusted through, and the fuel pump relay, which was damaged by a faulty ignition coil.  The old relay makes a good get-you-home unit if the realy contacts are soldered together, so keeping the fuel pump running until it is unplugged.

Tii's use Kugelfischer - K Jet was first used on the E21 320i M10 around late 1975 and the corresponding E12 520i.

You can have yours repaired:

Ooops!  I omitted to read the title of the subject, and assumed the car was an E21!  Sorry about that . . .

I wonder if the Thermal Time Switch is the same thing as on a GTi - it may be worth checking the part number against that for an E21.

My warm up regulator has failed in that one of the water pipes as corroded and broken off, does anyone have a replacement or know where I may be able to get it repaired?
