There will be no ALPINA stand at Goodwood in 2019.

Not feeling much love for Alpinas at the moment. No Nottingham Meet, No Goodwood stand, Shunned at the ACE cafe.. . . . .. Unhappy

It is always difficult in a minority group within or without of the Club. Gary Lott the Brand Manager is looking at some possibilities for alternative ALPINA meets in 2019.
The difficulty is the meet at Nottingham has always been free, with Sytner laying on all the refreshments and it causing some not inconsiderable disruption to their business.
People are fickle and if there is an event at another location and no charge this is taken as an indication that it is ok for some not to turn up when they said they would. Therefore, moving forward it may well be that if any event, is or can be arranged there might be a charge involved.

Goodwood

The charge for ALPINA to attend is massive, I dont know the exact figure but well of 50K and probably more like 80K, plus the cost of renting a house for staff to stay in and travel from Europe etc. They may well be there in 2020 but this is not guaranteed. Sadly the BMW Car Club can no longer offer complimentary tickets to members as we had the benefit of in previous years.

ACE Cafe

The 2018 meet was arranged by a private individual, I am still uncertain if he had hoped this would be a commercial venture? However, whilst he booked a date in June 2019 he now say's he will not be there. He was asked to give the details of who to contact, but has been reluctant to do so. This event is nothing to do with the BMWCCGB or Sytner. I have no idea what might happen, but motorbikes driving inches from the front of my car means it has put me off from returning.

In terms of ALPINA it is far better to join thealpinaregister.com as opposed to this forum as generally the lack of interest is obvious.

Many motorcyclists are also enthusiasts, they no doubt do not want your car inches from their motorcycles !

Paul S - you were not there one presumes? I have owned many motorcycles years ago and commuted for 8 years into central London (North row W1 & 20 Upper ground SE1). Kawa Z 1100 and Suzuki GSX 1100.

The event was organised to that a specific area was cordoned off with the expressed agreement of the ACE Cafe management, despite this a few motorcyclists avoided the ACE Cafe security staff.

It was not an event for motorcyclists, however if you have a problem with it I suggest you take it up with the ACE Cafe Management who are the people who decide who can and who cannot park on their ground and where exactly they can park. However, furthermore had there been any damage to my vehicle I would instruct my legal team to seek damages from the person(s) responsible. Including the organiser for (alleged) negligence.
