Hi guys
Been directed over here from the main forum for some help in buying an e30. I was told a Mr McDonald was experienced and may be able to help. I’m 18 and have experience working on cars, preferably I want a 325 but wouldn’t exclude a 320. Anyone have tips as to what to look for and in fact if they know of ok ones available. Thanks Joe

E30s are generally tough reliable things, and easy to work on as you have experience messing with cars.
At the age they are now rust can be an issue. Back of front wheel arches by the sill ( inner and outer wing). Rear arches. Jacking points. Front footwell under the carpet. Anywhere else after bad repairs or neglect. Trim and interior parts can be hard to find now, and expensive. Mechanical parts are not an issue, brakes, suspension etc parts are easy to get hold of and fix. Engines, gearboxes, diffs are tough and if work properly with no funny noises or leaks are probably fine. Oil in water or water in oil on the six cylinders engines is a sign of a potential cracked cylinder head - expensive. Otherwise just be careful, there are neglected cars out there. There are also cherished gems out there.

Hi may depend on your budget and worth checking insurance costs with BMWCCI - so many options and you need a solid car but you can still find a project but.build in cost of the work that you are planning - lots of ifs and buts so be prepared before you commit
