My 4 series appears to be holding water, I thought I could here water sloshing around over my shoulder and now I’ve noticed when I put the driver side rear window down it comes back up wet (in all weather ) none of the other windows do . It’s a 15 plate so not sure it could / should be an age thing . Anyone have a similar issue ?

It sounds likely that there is a drain hole that is blocked somewhere at the bottom of the cavity that the window lowers into.

Not sure I'm afraid. Someone else on the site may well know or you could just ask in the service dept of your local dealer. Most of them are helpful with issues like that.

On my e90 the drain holes are at the bottom of the doors but not sure on a 4 series,I would think that they would be the same. I would make sure though, that if the door is full of water to dry the inside of the door as much as possible to stop rust starting.

Hope you get it sorted

The drain pipes will probably be in the rear wheel arches, behind the plsatic liners - it you get under the car you will probably see them.  I used to use a piece of 6 mm cable to push through the sunroof drains on my Golf GTi.

Hi I’m just wondering what happened to the trapped water in window panel? I just had the same problem on my 2014 f33, the roof stopped working and I could hear water swishing behind me, water trapped when I drove ran through to battery bay in boot and 2 gallon of water came out after drilling, the drain hole problem BMW know about and I can’t understand why it hasn’t been a recall. Because my car is out of warranty and even though it was in a BMW main dealer April having the drain holes cleaned and unblocked, it happened again. BMW have had my car 3 weeks and they paid for all parts and 50% labour but it still cost me £1000😡 guy at garage said their supposed to be a fix of drilling under sill to make drain holes bigger but this doesn’t work. The drain pipes block because of plastic caps at the end with a cross on it, the garage have changed mine and taken ends off, he recons it won’t happen again but I will be listening after every rainfall now. I complained to BMW but the after sales and complaints dept are rubbish, I can say now I love the car but after this experience I won’t be buying another bmw anytime soon, hope this helps
