I own a November 1995 850CSI, 47000mls. Since taking ownership in 2001 it has sat on Toyo tyres and although they have plenty of tread left they are starting to perish and of course they are illegal and dangerous for use on the public road. I want to put a set of new tyres on but there are so many opinions and tyre tests out there that leads to confusion particularly so when no mention can be found anywhere relating to an 850CSI. It has MK alloys and sits on 285/35X18’s on the back and 235/40X18’s on the front. Can anyone give any recommendation as to what is the very best tyre to fit? I have narrowed things down to Michelin Pilot Sport 4, Continental Premium Contact 6, Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 5, Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Sport and Pirelli P Zero. I want good handling in the dry (never out in the wet) wear is not important as the car is not used a lot (7k mls.in last 19yrs) want a comfortable ride with low road noise and low rolling resistance. Comments and advice appreciated.

Have a look at Fulda Tyres popular in Germany; part of the Goodyear Group so reasonable provenance.

Also Nexen Tryes(South Korea) are good quality too - approved by Porsche. With VW flagged on Nexen web site.

Have a word with Debbie Blyth? Series Register.

ps sure you are aware of Timm's web site the E31Guru! :- https://www.meeknet.co.uk/e31/

I run Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics on a couple of my cars and have found them to be a good all rounder.
With the tyres you have listed being good quality, just check their noise ratings, otherwise choose the cheapest in the sizes you need.
Darkness gone, Tronic gone, Solo gone, DBA going, go Darknes2, go Frozen, go Black Pearl, go The Vibrator
