HELP! After driving this lease car from new for 4 years it was purchased at the end of 2014 from the lease company with 100k on the clock and a full BMW service history. In April 2015 the car stopped, refused to re start and was eventually removed to the local BMW Dealer.
At first claims were made by the dealer that petrol instead of diesel had been put in the tank. A subsequent fuel test by the Oil Lab has dispelled this theory although they point out that there is some water contamination and that the biodiesel % is 12,4% rather than 7%  and hence the fuel does not meet EU standards. I know Tesco have a poor reputation but I can find no evidence anywhere of complaints about the particular  station in question this year.
The outcome of all of this is that the BMW Dealer has said the following:
  • High pressure fuel pump has 14 bar pressure instead of 250 bar.
  • swarf and rubber debris found in high pressure pump valve gauze.
  • found swarf in tank and suspect whole fuel system contaminated.
  • Sprocket snapped on camshaft causing timing to go out, causing suspected damage to fuel system & engine.
They are now saying that the £12k+ cost of repairs is uneconomical!!
Comments & advice would be very welcome as the car is only 4 1/2 years old.
Cheers
Alan
