Hi N-Dog

Nice looking E46 cab. I am sure you will enjoy the car, I had a 1999 E46 323i saloon auto for 12 years until 2 years ago,my first bmw & loved it. Now own a 2011 E90 m sport.

Shame the photobucket logo ruins the photos,I use Flickr.

The plastic expansion bottles age and then fail suddenly with no warning. The radiator ages, and often starts to bow out at the bottom where you can't see, then starts to leak. Whilst you're in there replace the top and bottom hoses, thermostat and water pump as they're not very expensive and can also fail.

E46's are now at the age where these parts can cause issues and should be replaced as wear items. But they don't appear in any service schedules as BMW never intended us to care for and keep the cars so long.
