Hi Nigel.

Thank you for that. I have looked at Bimmerforumsuk but not found anything. Do you know where the answer is? Am I just being thick?

Mike.

I've just replaced my parcel shelf, quite easy really. If you haven't done it yet let me know and i'll try and do a write-up on the procedure.

Ok so here's how I did mine,
I dropped all the windows for ease of access then removed the bottom sections of the seats, just give them a bit of a yank up from the front and slid them forward to remove.
Un-clip the side panel cards, these just have push in type clips and remove.
Next pull down the edge protection rubbers 51722259793 to access the side lateral side panels.
Pull the side lateral panels away from the bodywork being careful not to break the holding lugs, there are four holding lugs on each panel, I again just gave them a sharp tug to release. Be careful as the wire for the courtesy lamps are quite short. Also note that the holding clips 51437194187 can dislodge from their slots in the bodywork. Once released you can disconnect the courtesy lamp plugs.
The seatbelts then need to be threaded through the bottom slits of the plastic grille to release them and can be left in place.
Once the above has been done you can then give the front of the shelf a short yank up from either the left or right hand side to release the four white holder clips 51468152370 do this one by one. Don't be surprised if a couple are broken, or break whilst trying to release (they are old remember).Once the four clips are freed, just lift the front of the shelf up about an inch or so and pull firmly towards you to release the four metal locators which locate the rear of the shelf into the bodywork below the rear screen.

That's it!!!! I've put Part Numbers so you can see check various bit I'm talking about, they are on the "Real Oem Website.
