    Posted: 09 Feb 2014 at 9:47pm

This is a great event for all BMW owners and all Car enthusiasts - the emphasis is on a family day out with visits to the Imperial War Museum (fighting aircraft and military vehicles). Just to hear that Merlin engine growl is worth the visit! Many World Famous Car Marques will also be there.

Price to exhibitors is £10/pp which includes car - children under 16yrs are free. Pay on Gate!

This is very good value as normal price for the public is £17.50pp (£14.00pp concession)

Show opens between 9.30/10am and normally ends between 4.30/5.00pm

Please be aware that spaces are limited to 200 cars and is a very popular event so please add your name here to reserve your place.

There are a number of vehicles attending from the 7 series register which is a separate organisation to the BMWCCGB. I am uncertain if this is being coordinated with the BMWCCGB.

This also clashes with the Welsh Weekend event at Aberystwyth.

I note that George Champ the Director from the Eastern region has also posted about this event asking for those attending to tell him!

Norrie - I always thought this was a central event as the club involvement was started by Bernie etc so guessing that's why Central are or would be coordinating

Thanks Norrie for your observations - please allow me to explain as follows:

George Champ has advised that he has already been in touch with the 7 Series regarding Duxford. It is being coordinated by East Anglia and Central Region of the BMWCC. As far as I know most people are aware that the Welsh Week End is on the same date (4th May).

It was agreed (as a matter of policy) by both Regions that the event should be posted on their respective Forum Regions. It will be mentioned in all available media as a matter of course; including the Mag, Facebook and Twitter.

I hope this clarifies your observations - if not please do not hesitate to contact me

regards

Good, that's great as long as everyone knows what is going on. It is not apparent from the posts on the 7 series register that it was being coordinated. This is a part of an ongoing issue between the 7 register and the Club (no fault of the club). I will post on 7 series asking that anyone who is arranging anything in conjunction with the BMWCCGB states that is so and who it is they are dealing with.

Thanks for the clarification.

I think I am correct in saying historically this event was a 7 series event? This then seems to have been amortised into the BMWCCGB event? That is not a problem. I also understand in the past by promoting this event a number of people turned up who were not part of a specific group and did not behave correctly ( driving fast and showboating) they I understand were ejected. Therefore it is good to know that we have strong organisers who will be on hand to ensure it all goes off smoothly.

It says that Mr Champ has been in touch with the 7 series register here? I wonder who exactly that is then? I just checked the 7 series register forum and the person who started the Duxford thread called Timm states " I have booked in the 7 series register and E31 8 series, I have not been in touch with BMW" There is no mention from any other contributor that they have either. It will be interesting to discover who this person is?

Norman - As I was aware historically - well as long as I remember with the event as it was run and coordinated by Bernie Howell who was the Central Chairman and heavily into the 7 series hence also was in the 7 register - then that was how and why they were together on this and it was one of Bernies main events together with Silverstone which has now become National.  It does not hurt for other regions like EA and London etc and other registers to work with Central to help promote the event as it can only attract more people to attend - I will also advertise to the E30 register now also

Hope its a good event and the weather is good also

I agree the more people the better, I would be happy to post it on the Alpina register unless there are any objections? I have always told people in the 7 series register that at any event if there is Alpina parking then I would go with that, if not then 7 series.

am sure Bernie would have been happy with whatever support anyone could offer to help one of his events - and this is one of those I considered his - guessing more the merrier - I have put it on the E30 section and I am sure Simon will help as he was one of Bernies biggest supporters

The point I was trying to make was that there seem to be lots of different places where people are posting saying they either are coming or are not coming. Whilst I encourage all those who wish to attend to do so, I am a little unsure if the organisers from wherever they may be will be able to capture all those posts? Indeed there at 3 separate threads on this Clubs site around it. Plus facebook, plus a section with 7 series on facebook and so on.

Therefore, apologies for any duplication, but I have said I will go with my Alpina B7, Paul Braden Alpina B10 and Stephen Bone Alpina B5 also have said they are going. I did not post it on the Alpina forum as Simon normally puts things on this. Lets hope it is better weather there than the last 2 years.

Will there be an Alpina section? Also I can find no one who has posted on the 7 series register who has been in contact with the BMWCCGB, but it could be that they have, but have not posted such? if so, no one on 7 series register knows who it is, unless someone knows different? Probably does not matter too much?

I just checked the 7 series forum as at this posting 13 people have indicated they are coming. Again apologies if this is already known, no post on there indicates such. Indeed, I cannot be certain that this is arranged with or without the BMWCCGB as it does not specifically indicate either way.

Most are directing people to the central region as far as I can see so should work out ...no harm in 7 series register parking next to bmwcc if they want be seperate so looks sorted to me

I have put my name down on the Alpina Register list.
As there seems to be so many lists how will one know if one has a slot

Brian

The names on all lists will be submitted to George Champ on a regular basis. This will ensure that all details are collated and checked. The reason why we have asked the Regions and Registers to cooperate on promoting the show is to ensure that we get the earliest possible indication of numbers. This in turn will assist George in assessing space allocation; hopefully "up". If you have already entered/committed your name/car details then you will be allocated a space.  So relax as there is nothing to worry about.

I hope this helps if not please PM me.

Thanks

In practice, this is an excellent event, with huge amounts of display space and a very simple cash on the door policy.  Organisationally, there really is nothing to worry about here, as Tony has said.

based on previous experience (I am not organising though)
- no list of cars
- arrival is pretty flexible.  In the past I have arrived anytime between 9 and 11, depending on the weather.

Hi, I will be collecting my 8 tomorrow from Phoenix Motorsport having had some suspension work done and have every intention for getting up to Duxford again this year. Smile
When I was younger I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said HAPPY. They said I didn't understand the question. I said they didn't understand LIFE !!
