Andrew. I was contacted by a person about this car and have had a very long chat about it. It is alleged that it was bought at auction by the current seller and has 122,000 miles on the clock. Unless the seller is giving warranty there appears to be no BMW warranty and the purchaser tells me he was unable to determine if the supercharger had been replaced.

It looks a very nice and clean car, however some advice for would be purchasers and I know because I own one. These cars are expensive to maintain tyres will cost you around 400 pounds each if it has the 21 inch wheels. The BMW dealer service costs are around 500 per year. Insurance is the highest bracket as at 500 bhp and 188 mph restricted speed it is in the super car bracket.
Most insurers insist on a tracker being fitted and now will only accept the VHF type, I had mine replaced. The 2004 model here may not have current sat nav update or current bluetooth capability, I had mine updated by BMW at purchase along with fully comprehensive warranty which now goes through to Feb 2015. I also had the car modified to take a MP3 player.

Insurance - insurers said they would not cover anyone under 35 years of age and must have had full licence for 10 years and no points whatsoever. Many insurers have never heard of the car or don't have it on the data base. Make sure you documents do say Alpina B7 and not 740i or 745i as the insurance is invalid if it is wrong. I had that from a chap in Germany who had owned one!

I described the B7 as the best car i ever owned and my view on this one which is for sale is this, if you want to take a risk of a no warranty car with parts like a supercharger which can cost 6K to replace then that is the gamble. If you want to buy it and bring it out 5-6 times a year to show then you have a very rare car and I believe 1 of 7 on the road. If they are put back to full condition then the right hand drive versions are increasing in value, it really depends how much you want one and how deep your pockets are!
