Firstly many thanks for the get together at perfect detailing yesterday. It was great to visit and see so many members cars in sparkling condition, you are a credit to the club. It was also nice to see some familiar faces and meet new people too.
I must apologise for our early departure, not realising the timescale of the meet we had invited our grand-children to tea so had to depart early and miss the trip to the no doubt excellent Clog and Billycock, I hope our spaces were filled as I now there were other people wanting tables.
I'm also a little sad that some-one decided to declare my 13yr old M5 as "a load of sh*te" to you it may be, to me its a car I've longed for for many years and plan to restore to factory condition as time and funds allow. You are of course entitled to you opinion but it may be better to make sure there isn't someone sitting in the car you wish to make your feelings known about. You sir do the club and membership no service at all.
Take care all and see you soon....

Neil...

We all buy what we can afford Neil so try not get too down. We all have opinions on what we like and what we don't and sometimes peoples opinions are due to jealousy. I run an old tatty E36 Vert and love it and its what i can afford. If your having fun, thats all that matters.

This is what kills clubs - what individual would in their right mind make a fellow club member feel like s##t by describing their car in such a manner ? Totally against the club ethos and against the things that a club should stand for.

every lump of metal parked up has a story - a history with the owner. So be it.... And if any individual comes up with such a comment they are showing an incredible level of disrespect to both the owner and the vehicle. And maybe they should be asking themselves if the club is really the place for them, as Im pretty darn sure the other members of said club would be asking themselves that very same question. NeilB get some pictures up mate and let us see this car. Its your pride and joy and dont let anyone tell ya otherwise.

Ive got an A6 myself as my run around and yeah its seen some miles - nearing 130k and Ill keep it until it dies. Ive had it over five years now and its taken me to Italy Belgium and a few other places aswell as running me back and forth to work. The alloys need attention and there are a few other bits on the body needing done, but hey its got history and its been the family hack for over 75k

Bought a Z4 as a treat about a year ago and Ive had been to some great meets with the BMW owners club and had some great runs maybe you need to have a chat with that person..... maybe hopefully it was taken out of context as a bit of banter - if not then well its pretty sad indeed.

I am disappointed to hear those comments, the club is here to encourage all BMW owners no matter what model or age or even condition. I was at our Alpina meet on the weekend and we had two cars, one with 250,000 miles and some body work rust and one with 186,000 miles and no rust, right up to one which was less than a month old.

Please do not take those comments as representative of the Club, one person does not speak for all.

I echo Norman's comments.

We should all remember that as members of the club we are all representatives whether we like it or not, any third party hearing someones comments are very likely to take them as the view of the club...positive or negative.

Think about what you can do for the club, not what it can do for you...

Agree - all welcome no matter what the car is like - shouldnt be worried about whether its good enough or suitable - if its a BMW then that perfect and its also about people and 99% of people will agree that all members no matter how old or how many dents or how big or small your car is your are a BMWCC member and welcome at whatever event - thats one person best ignore them - maybe they were the jealous type

Thank you for all your kind replays folks, I've since discovered these people don't seem to be club members (thankfully) just people hanging on to the edge of the meeting as it were. They also spent some time hurtling up and down the road in their M3 showing off, not our sort of behavior at all I think you'll agree.
Back to my car, it's a 2001 E39 M5 in need of a little tlc. Its actually in for bodywork as I type this, when it's back I'll put a post up introducing it to you all.
Thanks and take care.

This is always a problem with people who are not club members and I really would disregard them and their comments. Look for your local pub meet and regional events and go along and introduce yourself and I am sure you will be met with a positive response. They club is a broad church and many people have individual preferences for certain models however they are all part of the Club.

I am pleased they are not members and their attitude probably explains why not, there is much to enjoy without those people.

Thanks Norrie, I'm already a regular branch attended and have done a couple of shows with the region so far, including Gaydon. Really enjoying it.

Thankfully as you said is sounds that they were not part of the club....

Its not like we go hooning around like were on grand theft auto, well at least not all the time - sometimes we stop for coffee and sarnies ;-)

big bunch of people here with a common interest - we like BMW's in all shape form and condition....

My car isn't in A1 condition, its a project that I intend to work on over a number of years, but I am immensely proud owning and driving it (E36 EVO M3 convertible), I love seeing other members cars, in whatever condition they may be, we all share a passion for the marque and those who make crass comments like that have no place in the club, ignore them, most folks are only to glad to view and chat about each others cars in a civilised manner, hope one day we can meet up and have a chat
Always someone cleverer than yourself...

I echo Paul M3 comments above.
Fortunately your post has revealed the positive side of the club members which have come from members across the UK.
Your in a great region and sure in future you & your M5 will find real benefits from the club and enjoy the friendly social side wherever you go.
hope you can make Fathers day @ Harewood 2015 (plug for Howard to get our attendance guaranteed)
