    Posted: 15 Apr 2009 at 10:15am
Hi,
I am getting a full replacement set of discs and pads soon and I am also looking to overhaul the calipers at the same time.

Does anyone know where I can get reconditioned calipers or else get my calipers reconditioned or just a set of caliper repair kits and advice on how to finish the outside of the calipers?

Cheers,
Darren.

Repair kits for both seals/dust boots and guide pin bush are available from the dealer.

Easiest way to recondition the calipers is to have them grit blasted. Leave the hoses on, bleed nipples in and dust boot removed with piston pushed fully home to protect threads etc.

Paint with the proper VHT brake caliper paint available from most accy shops or from Frosts on-line. You can use hammerite smooth which seems to cope with the heat but may not give the required standard of finish.
