E36 1997 Soft Top operating failure

   Hello All. My first Post: I've had my E36 328i Cabrio from new, bought & serviced throughout by my local BMW garage.  This summer when trying to raise the electric soft top it failed to operate - the switch was blinking but no action whatsoever.  
My BMW garage had the car for 6 weeks, trying various progressive options without success.  At the 'final option', they said they would get a new motor module from Germany which should rectify the problem - available end September.  They later found it was no longer available for this age of car, put everything back together & asked me to collect the car as there was nothing further they could do!
They confirmed the part needed was a convertible Module: 61 35 7 158 010.
Going online I have seen several similarly numbered modules, some from the USA.  I'm not experienced in buying this type of product & feel I could 'buy a pup'.
Can anyone help please?  Perhaps suggesting a specialist local SE Area garage who can obtain & fit this part for me?
