The near side "Angel Eyes" of my 520d went out and the icon came on the dash to tell me.
Is there only ONE bulb for the "eyes" round both side and main lamps or are there one for each?? The reason I am asking is because I initially thought that the "eye" had only gone out on the inner headlight but now see that both "eyes" are not lit. Should I get Original Equipment bulb or are aftermarket ones serviceable?? Thank you in advance for help.

Hi. Thanks to all who had a look but without any replies.
I have now sorted this. I purchased a new lamp for the "eyes" and finally fitted it. Nobody tells you that to fit one lamp you need:- 2 different sizes of TORX screwdrivers, a torch to see the lower screws, a magnetic "stick" to retrieve the lower screws and also to replace them and most of all once you have removed the complete front light assembly, you require hands the size of a small child BUT with the strength of "The World's Strongest Man" Good luck to the next person who attempts this. I am no novice at mechanical things as I am a retired Consultant Mechanical Engineer. |

Only just seen this. Glad you got it sorted. I have replaced the Angel Eye bulbs with LED units and found it much easier and quicker to remove the headlight completely giving better access to the hole. Its just a kind of twist as you pull the headlight and it comes out very easily.
You have it sorted now anyway

I am currently struggling with exactly the same issue on my 2006 530d. I have managed to take the headlight assembly apart and have got down to a brown housing with the bulb held within the reflector/cup, but how do I actually get the bulb out of this without breaking it?!
Cheers, Graham |
