If you're looking for a BMW specialist garage in Edinburgh, try The Village Garage Blackhall, 206 Queensferry Road, tel. 315 2865, close to Craigleith Retail park and the Holiday Inn North.  It's a small operation, only 3 staff, and they do coachwork, too.

I recently put my 2001 330i in for an Inspection 2, + MOT, + a couple of other things.  Great service, polite, knowledgeable and they did just what they said they'd do.  They phoned half way through the job with a progress report and predicted, to the hour, when the car'd be ready.  It was.  The work took 3.5 hours, including taking the car to an independant MOT station and changing the coolant and brake fluid, and replaced nothing not needed.  They use only BMW parts, and charge £42 per hour.  Brilliant.

I'll be going back there for all work needed in future and recommend them unreservedly.

It's a big jump from what it was, over 20% in 2 years. But, still a lot less than dealer prices, true.

Agreed on the independent part, always far more friendlier than Main Dealers and far less intimidating.

It looks a nice wee garage but the entrance is tiny, I'd be very nervous taking my car in there. Nothing to do with the quality of the work, just access is very tight.
