hi all, just been reading about the roof motors on the e36. i myself have the same prob at mo-not working. also the two cables which operate the locking claws on either side have gone. bm want 300+ for new locking mechanism. is there anywhere where i can get cables on their own? tried breakers but no joy. p.s i am in preston lancashire

Try the E30Centre in Wolverhampton as do a lot with Convertibles E30 and E36 so may have the parts apart from that you may have to wait or pay the dealer

my brother had a look at my car yesterday and came up with a good idea! he said to buy a bike cable lock of similar thickness, and use araldite or similar to glue the ends onto. use bolt cutters and cut to size. any thoughts on this? |

Well I hope you have some luck because I've similar issues with hood, and independent specialists are none existant near where I live (Chester). Mine needs a physical 'shove' half way to keep it moving, part of the outside skin has broken away from the frame, and the inside skin is hanging on back rear quarters. Apart from that it's spot on!!!
