I just thought you may like to see some pics of our weekend trip tothe French Alps - sunny all the time, with six passes in one day, including the Galibier and l'Iseran (in both directions) two of the highest in Europe.

Here's one on the Galibier:

And another - last time we were following the snow plough:

And one on the Mont Cenis - the water really IS that colour:

Looks fantastic Mike!

Think about what you can do for the club, not what it can do for you...

And it's only a day from home - though most of the hotels, and complete villages,  were closed until the skiing season starts.

We stayed at Barennes, near the base of the Col de l'Iseran, which is about the only village with life in it.  It was a centre of the Resistance, so was burnt down by the Germans in 1944, and awarded the Croix de Guerre in 1945.

We covered about 550 miles in a day to get there, and the same going home, but the Z3 is really comfortable for that type of run, while still being very good on hairpin bends etc, thanks to the various suspension modifications.

Last time I was there I cycled up the Col de Lauteret from La Graves but the Galibier was closed due to snow. We did however cycle down into Briancon and up the Izoard. Then the snow came down while we cycling down - scary.

I think early July will be the best time for a Z Reg trip - before the tourists come, but after the snow goes.

I'll start detaled planning soon.

John - I wasn't sure if you were interested in the full France-italy-Switzerland-Austria trip or the weekend in a central Switzerland hotel, which will be at the half-way point.

The full trip would be primarily camping, but at that time of year finding hotels will not be a great problem.

Could you let me know, please?
