Hello Embarrassed

I was just looking at pistonheads at a 135i convertible with just over 1,000 miles and am really tempted. It will still have just over 2 years manufacturer's warranty.
Any experience of issues about this car? What should I look for it? Am going to test drive it tomorrow!!!

Many thanks

A friend of mine bought a 135i coupe about a month ago, I think it was an 09 plate with about 20K.  I have seen it, heard it and talked for ages about it.  It is one seriously nice vehicle and I think the convertible will be even nicer. My friend who has previously driven Porsches, Nobles and recently a Nissan 370Z was absolutely thrilled with it.

I think you will be smitten with the performance but just make sure you pay the right price as the petrols are dropping a bit so make sure you look at it with your head as well as your heart.

Cheers

Thanks a lot for the reply. Smile

It's registered September 2011 (61 plate), BMW ex-management car and price is £29,900.
Spec includes metallic paint, beige savanna leather interior, sat nav, electric heated front seats, electric foldable mirrors and the usual M-sport pack. Is this OK or should I pay less?

I was told that the original price was over £40,000 Confused

It's a difficult one.  It sounds nice and there is no doubt it was the wrong side of £40K new with a good spec like that but remember a huge chunk of that was Vat which is now gone.  Buying a car in the first year or two will always carry a bit of a premium simply because it is desirable, I usually work on a car being worth approx 60% of new price after 2 years so I think you will lose a few K in the next year but it will balance out if you keep it a while.  If you really love it do your homework on pricing and then get the best deal you possibly can. If you are even slightly uncomfortable with the deal, walk away because with cars, there will usually be another one round the corner tomorrow.

Good luck, let us know how the test drive goes

The car is in tip top condition...like new, as one would expect with only 1,000 miles and 9 month old (so it's the facelifted 1-series). After it was returned by the manager, it's been stored in BMW premises
Fantastic overall and the performance lightening (is this the correct word?)
I could not find any fault...other than the expected firmer ride compared to my...Jag. And it holds the road (even the very bumpy twisty ones) extremely well.

Nothing like the one I had test driven here http://www.bmwccgbforum.co.uk/topic7724_post43985.html#43985

The other thing I noticed was when pressing the clutch (with no gear), there was a slight change in the sound of the engine. Was told that this is because the clutch disengages, so it's normal. Is that it indeed the case?!?!

Thanks

How about a new model Z4 - roof up for winter, roof down for summer?

I've thought of that... but the new Z4 has an electronic park brake Angry Not good for a car that wants to call itself "sports"
