Some of you are familiar with the Pistonheads track day forum.  Someone one their asked members for to give their top three favourite UK circuits.  Almost 50 people contributed and the results were encouraging for the BMWCC calendar.  My rough tot up of how many top three mentions each circuit got produced this top ten:

1.  Oulton Park       25 mentions
2.  Cadwell Park     19
3.  Donington Park 18
4.  Brands Hatch    14
5. Silverstone        9
6. Snetterton        8
7. Anglesey          8
8. Thruxton          5
9. Castle Combe   4
10. Goodwood/Blyton 2

This means 4 out of 5 the circuits selected by Nick feature in the top 6 - so they have been well chosen!  The only bad news, Nick, is that your home circuit of Croft was only picked by one contributor - who ranked it third!

I've not visited Oulton Park, so I must try to fit it into 2015. The tracks punching above their weight appear to be Anglesey (give how remote it is) and Thruxton (given how few track days are they run). I'm surprised the classic curves at Silverstone don't attract more love but I guess the vote shows how important elevation change is, as it is a feature of the top 5.

A happy New Year to all.

Think it depends on your contributors and their locations...I suspect many were southern based....croft is without doubt a fantastic track and one of if not the best track day experience ....maybe you should suggest those guys come a try it and then likely to change the vote

I haven't done many track days, but I have driven most on the list above.

One of my favourites is BH GP, but my MOST Favourite is Rockingham Oval - scary Shocked - such a shame it isn't in regular use by all and sundry.

[It'll sort the men from the boys! LOL]

You wont see Croft on any top 10. Since they lost the fight with the noise NIMBY's several years ago they do not have the capacity to host many open pitlane trackdays.

From an organisers point of view (rather than a drivers) its Croft and Cadwell hands down.

I look for location. Is the circuit at a destination that can make a weekend as well as a trackday?
Thats why we dont go to Rockingham.

Will it fit in around my work schedule?
Some circuits are a long haul and without some serious time juggling at work are off limits for me.

May I suggest that the real reason is that it was built as an Oval, with various "micky mouse circuits" in the centre, so there are better MMC's elsewhere as they won't let you use only the oval.

p.s. there is loads to keep you occupied over the weekend in Corby / Rockingham - there's the Castle, Rutland, many interesting public houses, ...errr, a rugby club, ....oh there's loads, honest. Wink
