The meets organised by the region from the SE which specifically were including Alpina proved to be a great draw for owners. Many thanks to Nigel Hole for arranging those and also for repeating the opportunity in 2024.
The attendance figures lead us to believe there will be significant interest in the Alpina specific display on Sunday 16th June 2024 at Thruxton Motor Circuit SP11 8PN. specific links on how to book the tickets are published by the Club. I ordered mine using the BMWCCGB website and following the links for event brite booking, then selecting SERIES to the question who are you displaying with? The answering Alpina to Choose your series. The ticket covers both days 15th June 0730 and Sunday 16th until 1800 hrs. I printed off my ticket and the total charge was 22.38 pence for the event. This seems to me to represent excellent value compared to most shows and entrance fees for car activities. Thanks to those people who have already bought their tickets and confirmed attendance. However, there is always an however, if you need accommodation I urge you to book sooner as opposed to later. Thruxton is just off the A303 which is a popular route to the West Country and Devon and Cornwall. Many people break their journey along this route and the event is in the Summer with increased demand. Thanks' to the organisers for making the Sommerfest in the South this time around, we hope it will attract some owners we have not seen before as well as those loyal to the brand who travel far and wide. wow 160 for a premier inn? I think this illuminates my point. I used to stay at the Crowne Plaza Basingstoke, but had reservation cancelled as the Hotel is now under a Government Contract.
I have used the Holiday inn SP4 7SQ which is on the A303, it gets very booked up. Also the Norton Park Hotel near Sutton Scotney this is just off the A303 as well, decent amount of parking. |

Single occupancy, Saturday night in June. I guess that’s the going rate these days.

Although I have bought a ticket, I have no idea where in the circuit the Alpina vehicles will be parked. Those that know Thruxton will be aware as you come in off the main road and turn right into the entrance there is a long drive to a set of main gates. To the left of that drive is a very large field and at the far end there is often camper van and camping. This field gives access to some parts of the banked area next to the track.
The issue with parking on this internal banked area is if its wet then it becomes difficult especially for rear wheel only vehicles. there was some slipping and sliding which caused concern when I attended with the club last time around. Therefore, like everything people ask these questions before buying a ticket, not sure who has the answer? |

I heard via a colleague that all display parking will be inside the circuit, there is a lot of good hardstanding area there from memory. Sounds positive if this information is correct?

I paid £160 with breakfast for just the Saturday night! How did you get it for that price for two? Cheapest I can see for 2 nights is £189 and I don’t think that includes breakfasts.

I’ve booked a double with breakfast. I think it was flexi cancellation. If it’s tipping it down over the weekend I won’t bother going and I’ve only lost my entry fee not my hotel room. I’ll drive up early on the Saturday. It’s under two hours journey for me. Fingers crossed for decent weather.
We could meet for some beers at the hotel Saturday night if you like?
