Hello im new here so be nice lol

Im working on a 2006 530d e60 and its developed a fault on the wipers.
Im not up to speed with BMWs so some info would be nice.

What its started doing is either when it rains and the auto wiper system is engaged or even when you put the wipers on manually, sometimes the wipers go into fast speed and can stop anywhere on the screen (not the parked position).
When this happens there is no response from the stalk, the wipers decide what to do themselves.
Its not had anywork on the screen, rain sensor not been removed.
Rain sensor does work everytime i pore some water on it or it starts raining, there is a small bubble in the sensor pad but its been like that a while and this problem has only just started.
Using a snapon diagnostic scanner (very current model) i cant get much data out of the car.
Car has done a lot of miles and the wiper linkage is also worn so thats getting changed soon.
Does anyone think this is just a simple wiper motor fault or something else going on?

Thanks for any info or help anyone can give me.

I had 2 x E60 from New. First one did 80K and second 110K. I sort of had similar problem which was cured by changing worn wiper blades. It could be as simple as that.
