Hi
Happy New year to all.
Has anyone had any experience with ipod adapters for the E39?
I have a 2002 530d msport with the profesional radio/tv/sat nav unit with cd autochanger and after recieving an ipod nano for xmas am looking at using it in the car. I would appreciate any tips or advice on which adapter is the best way to go and how easy it is to gain access to the back of the head unit, or should i be looking to get the whole job done at an ice specialist.
Thanks Kev

I have a Dension Gateway 300 in my '97 540 touring. Works well with ipod, usb stick or jackplug. Didn't do it myself, paid a local garage to do it.

Thanks Pete
have recieved some really helpful feedback on BMWland forum and have decided to go for the intravee unit as it gives more info on the sat/nav screen and is an easy install, although it is more expensive.

Hi,

I bought one of these for my 2003 E39 530d sport before Christmas.

I have the sat nav/ tv with boot cd changer.

There was no text displayed on the nav screen, and like all new techie things I assumed I was doing something wrong but after many hours of research and being asked to try another box, I discovered that it was the lead that was wrong as I should have been supplied with a different cable. I discovered this after speaking to this company, who seemed to know what they are talking about.

To date I have not received the right cable and am getting impatient.

I'll let you know if it gets sorted.

Have purchased and fitted the intravee 2 and alpine KCA-420i ipod adapter and was very impressed at the ease of fitting and although i haven't yet got the hang of navigating through the displays am very happy with the information shown on the nav screen.
The only downside is that my 4th gen ipod nano will not charge while in the car but this is down to changes made by apple and can be overcome i believe.

If it has a cd boot changer then the intravee is the best IMO, doesn't matter about your TV or sat nav version, you will get the same control.
