I know that probably the parts wanted section may be an option for the placement of this request but as it is 1 series specific, here it is.

Hey Guys, I know this is a long shot but a mate of mine needs a "Camshaft carrier cap" for his N45 b16A engine.

In laymans terms, its the n shaped bracket that you bolt down over the cam shaft to hold it in line and allow it to spin.

If anyone has such a thing, please PM me

Thanks

When you say "n"-shaped you obviously mean a lower case n (as you typed it) with the arch being semi-circular inside, to fit the camshaft bearing.

These parts are usually machined as an assembly with the head. ie all the caps are fitted to a head and then reamed through to the correct diameter. It is therefore not recommended to change them from one engine to another - but what choice has he got?

You could try the specialist breakers to see if they have an engine/head that is damaged and being broken for parts.

Hi Peter, thanks for the reply, yep we know how they are formed, my mate has a machine shop and is able to make the part from a starter piece, he owns his own racing team and racing cars.

Just really wondered if anyone on here was maybe breaking one.

Any help would be appreciated
