Nick,

I might have asked this before, so please forgive my forgetfulness.

Is there a club track day insurance scheme that we should use for preferential rates, or should I just use my normal provider?

I'm aiming to book 3 cars in (with one extra driver), but am just waiting for one to get back to me after checking he can get the day off.

I normally use MORIS.

Cost is about 1% of value of car, plus 10% of value as excess (which can be insured too). You can also add personal injury for about £20 for £100k worth.

My premium is about £100 for £13k of cover and £1300 excess.

Just trying to book this even (for 2 cars, 3 drivers) and the original page says a total of £350 (2 x £150, 1 x £50).

After asking for my details it skips to the checkout and shows a total of £300 for 2 cars and 0 additional drivers.

I also notice the 'car details' section below is blank, but it never asks me for car details, so how does this get completed?

Help on how to proceed?

If it's icy/snowy, then I hope they open up the rally/low grip circuits for a bit of sideways fun Smile

Otherwise, cold & dry is my preference Thumbs Up

They're not really what you would call a skid pan as they're more about drifting on track than car control for icy/wet conditions.

There are 2 low-grip tracks near the entrance, but these are totally separate from the actual race track, and are booked through the MSV website (or privately I assume).

The last MSV organised one of the year is the week before the BMWCCGB track day.

This is what the aerial image looks like of them...

A couple of questions from me:
I paid for my track day attendance on the evening of 30th October, but got charged £150 - was this right and I was 24 hours too late for the early-bird discount, or did I not drive the website correctly?
Secondly, what are the arrangements for the day? I need to think about whether to drive across from Teesside in the morning, or to come across the evening before and find somewhere to stay.
Thirdly, I presume bringing a passenger is free?
Cheers,

Graham

Hi - you would need to check with the office re the price if you think its wrong...the briefing are often between 08.00 and 08.30 but sure Nick will confirm this with you - but maybe thats something thats worth adding to the booking form going forward...so depends how early you want to get up and drive over and then drive home the same day - I would suggest a cheap hotel the night before so you are not rushing or tired in the morning...regards passengers they can come but there is a small charge as they also need to book in and sign the paperwork etc - hope that helps

Hi Cabrio (unusual name!),

Thanks for the reply - I probably will go for the hotel overnight, since I guess I ought to budget something like 2.5 - 3 hours to get over there.
Cheers,

Graham

Me again
Specators are free, but everyone on circuit has to pay something.
Passengers at Oulton pay £20 for all day or £10 for the afternoon and can ride in with any driver that will take them

all will be explained in the driver notes that I email out the week before we go

Many thanks to Nick & the team for another excellent event.

The morning was greasy, but a dry-ish line appeared quickly (until the next shower). But the wind soon cleared it up again and the track was almost as quick as a June event by 3pm.

It's just a pity that I can't make it to more due to ever-changing work commitments.

Probably won't see you all again until next November Cry

BTW, is there an official photograph thread/site from which to peruse/purchase 'action' shots?

Had a great day, thanks to Nick and team for organising everything.

It was good to meet David Frith (our club chairman) at the day too, re-enforced / showed me that this is a club event, not just a track day, I suppose I'm more track day than car club sometimes :-)

I don't have any photos, but you might see your car on my in car video on you tube
