Any of the forum boffins able to give me a rough idea of my garage floor space in m/sq from my sketch below?
It's probably a bit out of proportion but the angles and lengths are close enough. I got the lads on E36 coupe to work this out for me a few years back and IIRC the best answers were somewhere between 25 & 30 m/sq but the thread it was posted on is no more. Cheers 'n' that ![]() |

I cannot quite get your angles to work so the drawing below keeps the wall dimensions.

Beat me!
I was also struggling with the angles, I think 45 is perhaps 145 and 35 135?

A quick mental job gives about 32 metres sq, with a bit left over for another coat.

Don't knock it until you try it! The triangular area tothe left gives plenty of room for a decent-sized bench and some storage racks, without impeding on the space for a car. Mine is roughly the same size, but with a rectangular area to the left, and it is very useful for working on one side of the car at a time. It also provided space for an storage area and entry/exit airlock. Given the space, you can work wonders - mine went from this:

If you mean the other way round (ie 145=35 and 135=45) then your probably right. I'm an instrument pipefitter so probably refer to angles differently from a draughtsman but the end result should be the same. My angles add up to 360 degrees Here are the original plans. The previous house owner wanted an en-suite bedroom extension then used the remaining space out to the boundary for the garage. That coupled with the fact we are on a corner plot leads to the strange dimensions. (The observant will notice my sketch is upside down compared to the plans. The garage door is on the wall that is 4000 long on my sketch. How I managed to draw it that way I've no idea) ![]() Here's a shot of the outside. The en-suite bedroom is the higher window to the extreme left. ![]() And the inside. Despite being a tip when this was taken it shows as Mike says the room to work around a car. There's actually enough room where the lawnmower is to park a motorbike should the mid life crisis hit at any point. ![]() Thank's for the answers so far. I think i'll err on the safe side and allow for 35 m/sq when I decide what to do with the floor. |

Hmm. It's a fair bit higher than any estimates so far. I think I'll need to get someone who knows what they are doing to physically come and measure it up. |

I have overlaid my earlier diagram on your drawing, don't think I was too far off with my angles.
I have coloured the area referred to in the calculations. Unless I am doing something fundamentally wrong (has been known) your area is 27.22sq m ![]() |

Better to be on the safe side and call it 32 or 35 metres sq, leaving enough paint for a second coat in areas where wear will be higher, such as inside the doors, and in front of the bench. Anyway, most manufacturers lie about coverage!
