Has anyone removed the spare wheel cradle? I've removed the rear bolt which the cradle pivots on, (which took over an hour it was rusted in)
but I can not see any way in which the handle which lets the wheel down can be removed? Can anyone help?

It's a good thing you have not had a puncture! Read the handboook for full details, or if youi do not have one, search the web for a pdf download. Basically it is easy:
(a) Remove the storage bin at the RH of the boot, and remove the nut underneath it. (b) Pull the plastic handle out, then slide it down the cable to engage the nut around it. Unscrew the nut. (c) Slide the handle up the wire, and pull tightly. (d) Release the spring clip (around the threaded portion) and lower the cable through it, so lowering the spare wheel cradle to its lowest position. |

You've totally misread the question. I know how to change the wheel on my car, what I want to do is to remove the wheel cradle totally from the car, to enable me to remove the rust and repaint it.
The problem was removing the Lifting handle from the cradle, to allow it to be removed. I now know the lifting handle is threaded into the cradle, and quite easy to remove. But thanks anyway for the replys.
