2002 Steering lock issue

   Hi all
Can anyone help me help out a local owner of a 1973 2002 with a problem? 

I was contacted by the owner asking me if I could help, however, not having intimate knowledge of the 2002 I'm hoping someone on here has any suggestions.

The owner says he parked it up in his garage at night, but came he to start it in the morning the ignition key would not turn the ignition barrel. The steering lock is now on, but wasn't when he first tried to start the car up, but now is! The key will not turn in the ignition barrel left or right. It's never had this problem before.

Any ideas anyone??

(I do have the owners name, email & phone number should you need to contact him direct)

	Has he tried keeping pressure on the key while rocking the steering wheel back and forth? I remember having this problem and cure on 1970's Minis etc. Otherwise, ask a bored-looking 10-year old boy, who will probably have the lock out in ten seconds . . .

	Yes correct Mike. Failing that remove the steering wheel cowling and you can unbolt the ignition switch to get you out of trouble. Also worth noting while it's off the Key number in case you need to order replacement lock.
