I have condensation on the inside of my headlights, what is the best way to get rid of it? and/or prevent it returning? Any ideas?

Various fixes on E36 are as follows, E39 should be same, I have the same problem too with both cars
Stick some silica gel packs inside the light units or
Open the covers on the back of the lights or,
Drill 3mm holes in the covers or,
Fit new seals to the covers or,
Place tin foil over the outside of the headamps, switch lights on to full beam & leave for about 2 hours, this drives the moisture out, but may come back unless you do any of above

the last one I did - I used a hairdryer - a heatgun can be too hot for the plastic trim...best way is new seals but costs
