Thought I would share my recent experience with you folks.
My rear view mirror failed recently, a known problem on the e46 m3! where the mirror seal fails preventing the autodim function, there is also the potential for the corrosive liquid to leak out! which would cause more of an issue and could prove costly, as some owners have found out. Fortunately I caught mine just in time. I am a member on another forum known as M3cutters, there is a guy listed under, forum sponsors and advertisers, known as 'mirrorjohn'. John is a UK BMW M3 specialist in auto dimming rear view mirror repairs, refurbishment and replacements. Whether you want a replacement mirror or a refurbishment service the cost is a fraction of the price of a new rear view mirror. I opted for the replacement glass and did the job myself. From order to delivery was only a couple of days. John's website provides detailed explanation and instructions on how to carry out the replacement, which I followed to the letter, without an issue. Take a look on his website, mirrorjohn.com |

Excellent service and a good product.
His wing/door mirror glass is exceptionally good value too.

John done me an exchange mirror at Gaydon. I thought I'd get mine done now as I recently fitted my F10 M5 gearknob and gaiter and didn't want the fluid to ruin it or my centre console.
It was just in time too as my mirror glass had changed colour all round and be a matter of time before the bubbling one the mirror starts. Excellent service I would definitely recommend doing it if you have that style mirror. |
