Hi Guys

Hope you can help me out, I've recently bought a 1994 M40 318i Touring to use for commuting to work but since buying it it's been driving me up the wall!

If you drive the car very gently it's fine and a lovely drive but as soon as you give it any throttle it starts to misbehave, feels like it's misfiring..... it gets worse when you really put your foot down, anything over 4,500 rpm and it feels like someones pulling plug leads off! you have to let the car settle back down to idle before it sorts itself out again!

I've swopped the airflow meter and the fuel pressure relief valve over for good spares I have but it's still running the same......

Can anyone help???????

Thank you in advance for any help.

Cheers,

Steve

have you checked for air leaks and the afm may need testing or replacing with a good used one to test if its okay - have you checked fuel delivery is okay and injectors are all working okay - may also be worth testing with a  used ecu - and then check if overfueling and report back
