Hi, I've recently acquired an e12 with Alpina B7 suspension and wheels (205/55 ZR16 front and 225/50 VR16 rear) - could anyone please tell me what the correct tyre pressures should be?

Oo tricky that.

standard was 195/70VR14 and at last we have managed to get Pirelli to make us a good tyre in that size.

there hasnt been anything good in this size for years.

I cant work out how to do an attachment, but none of my period fitment guides mention tyre pressures for Alpinas

Manufacturers tyre pressures are not recorded on tablets of stone, but are starting points, usually selected as a compromise with a higher pressure in the rear to promote a general understeering characteristic.  You should not get excited about having Alpina wheels and suspension, as your car will respond to changes like any other.

Some people of course have an unhealthy fetish about Originality, and are afraid or unwilling to change anything - even though the tyres, fuel, oil, battery, bulbs, and other items are probably not original.  Make your own mind up!

In the real world, some judicious changes can be usefully made - try using the higher pressure pressure F & R, then increase them by about 1 psi every trip, and see what you think.  I would suggest that a final pressure would be about 2.5 bar / 35 psi.

Advisory, in terms of Alpina, new Cars will have Pirelli types embossed ALP, other models will have had only Michelin tested. There is an alleged case of an onwer fitting the correct size tyre and correct rating but not a brand approved by the manufacturer ie Alpina as opposed to BMW. It is alleged this allowed the insurer not to pay out as tyres were not fitted in accordance with manufacturers instructions.

Hi

There are loads of period fitment guides at the bottom of this page. If you are using a tuyre on 16" wheels, to maintain a similar diameter without going for too wide, you will have less volume inside the tyre, therefore it will need a higher pressure of asir to make the work satisfactorily.

you might want the Cinturato P7 like the M1 had they would handle really well,.
