Thatcham Rotary Car Show 29th June 14

Once again Thatcham Rotary Club are staging their car Show at the Henwick Worthy Sports Field, Thatcham R18 3BN.

1100-1600 with a vehicle parade at 1400. There is no entry fee, but donations for charity are collected in a bucket by volunteers.

The is a show which is good for people with children, last year the Wessex region attended.

I regret I am unable to attend this personally as I am at Goodwood.

Andrew, generally speaking it is difficult to disagree. The Wessex region does have around 400 members and I don't I have met more more than 30 since I joined, so I guess you are, sadly correct.

I am not going into personal details, but some of the "hard core" of the region are committed to many events with the Club, alas not within our region. That takes form in ways which some do not see, one person (not me) is giving 10 days to help with a charity initiative involving the Club, some are going to Europe and also 4 days at Silverstone and 3 for Gaydon.

The Sherborne event, which is at the extreme of the region from me, but alas could only take 8 vehicles was filled in 24 hours!

Once again apologies I cannot come as at Goodwood that weekend. However, the Club has no official meeting or display at Goodwood this year.

I would have come along to this event if it had been the weekend before, as I am down that way between newbury & thatcham visiting family & friends.

I'm gutted as I know it is a good event ,as I have been before a few years ago when I lived nearby.

Andrew, I am sure you were committed to something else, but we did do the Basingstoke Festival which was good, we went to Thruxton, I posted Sherborne which is now full. Last week some Wessex people went to a wheel repair centre.

There are some things happening in the Wessex and I shall try and see what else we can do, but there are many clashes and for me at least 6 weekends a year I have a Board meeting.

We can only work on it and improve the offering. I am disappointed the the Club has no presence at Goodwood this year which is in the heart of the Wessex region.

Andrew, I was not being personally critical as I know you are at something most weekends, I just want to demonstrate to others reading that there are some (not enough) events in the region.

I do take your point about the Wessex region regarding the history and pictures and I will ask the regional Chair about this, I have not taken on or been elected to that role, it is a fair point. Kimbolton I have my pass for and will support that, Little Gransden I think clashes with with Car fest South which I am at for 4 days.

I know it is not the Wessex, but a host of people went to Weston Super mare yesterday and there we 120 plus vehicles so it is encouraging that numbers are increasing.

Beaulieu clashes with Sherborne, so I guess there will be a split number on that day from the Wessex.

Car Fest and Goodwood are great events, however tickets can cost up to 85 pounds a day, so attendance is very much by members own volition in that respect. However they are in our region.

There is a lady called Tiffiny with a stunning E 36 M3 who lives in Thatcham she lent her car to Vines BMW for the M3 launch. I can ask her.

Sounds like my kind of girl Lol

Perhaps I should join the West Berkshire Cruisers then?

Just to introduce you all to this newly formed modified car club...run by Mandy situated in Newbury, Berkshire and Josh who is situated in Thatcham, Berkshire. We are both massive car enthusiasts and as there is no car club in this area..we thought we would form one. We will be holding regular meets and events and would welcome you all to come along and share your pride and joy with everyone and meet new people at the same time. We would like this to be a friendly group and would embrace any ideas or thoughts you may have to make this club a success

Great day @ Thatcham

Larger then last year great Family day fun fair.

Weather was great... sadly after Norm highlighting & me asking Wessex & car club members to join us only two 7's turned out?

Great turn out by the West Berkshire Cruisers 10-15 cars they showed up the car club in my view!



Myself & Michael still waved the Banner for both the BMWCC & the 7 series Register.
