Hello to the forum.

This is my first post as I only joined the club a few days ago.

I have a 70 plate 320i which I bought from an official BMW dealer, it comes with one years used approved warranty, my question is , will having a Thatcham approved tracker fitted, possibly void this warranty? I will contact bmw customer support to see what they say.

Just wondered if anyone has any answers, to be clear this is a tracker, and not an immobiliser.

Was put off from using the trackstar tracker that BMW sell as I read some appalling reviews.

Thank you in advance for any answers

Mike

I have had a tracker fitted by Tracker UK for 12 years. It has no effect upon the BMW warranty or extended warranty unless it has been negligently fitted. That would need to be proven by BMW approved warrant supplier or indeed any other supplier. If proven you would have a claim against the installer.

Having said all that I would no worry about it one bit it is is fitted by a professional and recognised supplier.

Tracker UK used to do a life time one off subscription which meant you car was covered as long as you owned it personally. Unfortunately my understanding is that this is no longer the case.

Hi

I thought that might be the case. I also spoke to the supplying main dealer, and they said a tracker would be fine, with no implications on the warranty.

I’m having a tracker from tracker uk fitted next week.

Once again thanks for the reply

Mike
