In a travel lodge they have rooms at £32 at the moment but the price will go up over the next month or two. If anyone knows of any other good deals there are arround it would be very helpful.

Have you priced the crossing yet? Most hotels offer a deal on the combined hotel and ferry....not sure that a chain like Premier Inn would do that. Or is Melvynn able to source us a ferry deal?

Ok, for those who might be interested in a trip to the Isle of Wight next Spring, here goes:

I have researched hotel deals and the general consensus is to go Easter weekend to save time off work for we poor waged slaves...Cry

So the dates will be: [Good] Friday 18th April 2014, Southampton to East Cowes ferry - approx 12pm crossing

Curraghmore Hotel, Shanklin (nearest civilisation to Melvyn's town!) 2 nights Fri 18th and Sat 19th,

Return ferry East Cowes to Southampton approx 3.30pm on [Easter] Sunday

Costs: Ferry (return) with Red Funnel for 2 passengers with car £84. Hotel £124 for 2 nights ensuite, breakfast may be extra, wil need to check

Hotel scores 4/5 on Tripadvisor which generally is a good measure. Hotel currently has only 3 more rooms available for both nights (mine's booked), so would need to be a FCFS for booking...although Shanklin has lots of hotels, so some could book alternative accommodation if they desire.

So, here's the deal: 2 nights with ferry in decent hotel, superb company, use of your own Ultimate Driving Machine (c), chance to see Melvyn again (assuming he's not off touring), plus some fun and sight seeing....all for £208 for 2! (plus breakfast, meals, petrol etc...)

Let me know by end of next week please, 29th November, if you want to come and we will need to collect deposits etc.

Selwyn and John your rooms are booked at the Curraghmore Hotel. I've only booked a ferry for myself so far on Red Funnel from Southampton to East Cowes at 12:00 on Friday 18th April. I don't intend to try and book ferries for people unless you specifically want me to - let me know. People often make their own travel arrangements to suit themselves, so I'll let you decide.

Nest, to work on the itinerary...!

Please can you add Pauline to the list for hotel bookings as she would like to come along?

Thanks

Will do Anthony, is that for 2 rooms then? Last time I looked on the hotel site there was only one room left...I'll check when I'm back from Scotland. HNY!

So far only three rooms booked, so why not a few more? I believe there are still some rooms available so don't be shy! If you want more info or just to ask some questions I'll be at the Wateringbury tonight for the Burns Night.

Hi Marie /Graeme

Have you got firm numbers who are visiting us on the Sunny South Island?

I am around, as I do not start touring until MAY, if you don't count the trip over to Thruxton for the test day in February!

Planning to do a BBQ at our place on Saturday after taking you all on a follow my leader tour around Isle of Wight, looking around island sights (Needles Park, Vineyard, etc).

For those coming across to the South Island.

Red Funnell is updating one of its ships.

It should be in operation by April, so ready for your trip if your luckly to catch it.

Take a look at the upgrades at http://www.redfunnel.co.uk/newlook

Hi Selwyn

It will be good to see you and Hannah over here on the South Island.

Just remember to bring your Passports and the currency is the Euro.

We dive on the left and Sat-Nav does not work here on IOW.

Just Kidding....LOLLOL
