Hi
I bought a 2016 2 series coupe (220i MSport) in August 2022. I love it, but I'm not too impressed with the tyres it came with (2x Hancook Ventus S1 Eve on the front; Bridgestone Potenza S001 on the rear). I'm not fitting winter tyres as we have them on the X1, but when these tyres need replaced I'd like something better. I want to stick with run-flats. I'd be interested to hear what do people recommend. Cheers.

Where do you feel the tyres are lacking? Are they in good condition, good date code?
Each tyre will have it's stronger/weaker points. Any specific characteristics are you looking for in your new tyres - e.g. ride quality, low noise, wet braking, dry braking, wet handling, dry handling?
I'm on OE Goodyear F1A3 run-flats on my 320D M-Sport Touring and despite me originally wanting to dump them for non-RFTs as soon as possible, I haven't as I really haven't found any issues with them. But it's for commuting/touring rather than honing (although it has done some of that) and so require different characteristics to my Z4MC which has Michelin Supersports on it (which are due to be replaced by whatever summer tyre is appropriate when the weather warms up). |

Thanks for your response. They’re in good condition. I don’t do race or track events so they’re exclusively for road driving. I’m not often criticised for driving too slowly but nor do I treat the public road like a racetrack. The car itself is, I feel, good and I don’t agree with the usual criticism that run flats are too stiff; I think they’re fine. However, they do seem to be affected (adversely) by white lines more than I’ve noticed in any other car. They somehow don’t inspire as much confidence as I’d expect. My previous car was an MX5 and though it had less grip than the 2 Series, it was more confidence-inspiring. I wondered whether there was some consensus around tyres for RWD BMWs.

Tyres and oil are those kinds of topics where there can be a lot of passion about the right or wrong one for a particular car. Choose a quality product from a quality manaufacturer and you will be good.

I wish to belatedly chip in sympathy, seeing Nick left as last man standing:
I use Fulda Sport Control on a 320d Sport, 04 plate, model(E46) they are made in Germany and popular with the Germans. Fulda is part of the Goodyear Group. They have served me well. Price is Ok - but only just; being top end of medium price range. 225/40/R18 91 on the front and 255/35/R18 95 on the rear. Have to say they are big and heavy tyres. F or Winter I use 16 size all round Dunlop Winter Plenty of reviews in various German Car Mags, |

Only use Michelin tyres on my Alpina B7 and my M235i, would not fit anything else personally. Not the cheapest probably the best.
