   The weather here has been rather pleasant today, and I - like many of you, I expect - have been out giving my E46 a thorough interior and exterior valet, including the engine bay.This gave me the chance to fit a couple of parts I had squirrelled away since Autumn/Winter, namely a new under-bonnet felt insulation pad, as mine had shrunk with age and had come adrift from its retaining slots, presumably flopping over the engine.
Also acquired was a new roundel for the boot, purchased from the BMW Direct store on ebay. BMW Direct offered the cheapest part, at £40.97; cheaper even than some BMW main dealers. The example that had adorned my bootlid was cracked and had started to de-laminate.
The photos show before-and-after for the badge, and also the pad. I laid the old pad over the new one to show you how much it had shrunk.
