My washer fluid warning light has come on but the container is filled to the brim,so way has the light come on?

Warning light is triggered by a reed switch in the bottle.
Two possible issues;
The switch is gummed up-clean it
The switch is upside down-try it the other way up
 
If both fail to clear the light,try a replacement switch.
 
An outside chance is a fault in the overhead display,I've just fixed a persistant 'low coolant' light by swapping this bit!

Yes - likely to be dirt, upside down or broken level sensor or wire to it

Also try some electrical contact cleaner on the plug for the sensor.  Unplug it, spray some cleaner in and reconnect, a lot of these cars have never had them disconnected and after 20 years the connections can get a bit dry and suffer surface corrosion.
